Summer shorts

Thrifted blouse, thrifted high-waisted shorts, thrifted purse, Cole Hann sunnies, Swedish Hasbeens clogs

I've only lived in the Bay Area for a little over a year, but I'm still in disbelief when temperatures get hot enough to warrant bare arms and legs. For the first time I can remember, the highs have been in the 80s for a handful of days and that calls for wide open windows, grapefruit vodka sodas, and lots of lounging around. Thankfully, I love all of those things.

Even though I don't like to sweat unless I've earned it (see: running, climbing, or eating lots of Hot Cheetos), I'll embrace salty skin if it means getting to wear cut-offs and tank tops. I thrifted this top and pair of shorts (formerly mom jeans) when I was visiting Texas back in June. I failed to pack appropriate clothes for a proper Austin summer (as in, I packed three pairs of jeans) so a cheap pair of shorts was a necessity. I hadn't been thrifting in a while, let alone thrifting in my hometown, so I hit up my favorite store to see if they still had some goodies. Fortunately, I found three pairs of high-waisted jeans (that I turned into shorts), a sleeveless blouse, and an awesome, perfectly-Hawaiian tee.

I still got it, y'all.

Has-been

Rayban wayfarers, Old Navy sweater (for real!), F21 blouse, Gap jeggings, Swedish Hasbeens clogs

It's been a nice change of pace just being in the city and not having to worry about travel plans, airfare deals, packing, etc. Lately, I've been trying to get re-acquainted with the Bay Area, walking more, re-visiting cafes or restaurants I've enjoyed in the past, and attending local events. On this particular day, I had just gotten home from Creative Mornings. I missed the last couple of events due to traveling, and I forgot how positively energizing these lectures can be. This talk was particularly inspiring and it gave me a much needed kick-start to the weekend (plus, they have free breakfasts and caffeine so...). I highly recommend attending if you haven't already. They're typically held on the last Friday of the month and in really interesting spaces (this one was at Github). And did I mention they're also free? Just make sure to RSVP early! /plug

For this Creative Mornings event, I couldn't find anyone to go with so I went alone and ended up meeting a ton of people, including some kind ladies who were very generous about complimenting my shoes. I bought these Hasbeens as a birthday gift to myself after lusting over them for years and years. They're such great quality, easy to walk in, and surprisingly comfortable considering I'm basically walking around on blocks of wood all day. No regrets whatsoever. Happy birthday to me.
